American Idol: Top Ten Best Male Contestants

By chasescats

Okay, I have decided to create another Top ten list. This time I chose to pick who I thought were the Top Ten Best Male Contestants that have been on American Idol so far. (who knows, maybe this upcoming season will provide us with someone worthy of being on the list) Lets start the countdown with number ten and work our way up to who I believe was the BEST male contestant to ever be on the show.

10. Danny Gokey

Danny Gokey had a great voice and made it as 3rd place on Season 8 where he was beat out by Adam Lambert and Kris Allen. His talents are amazing, and so is his heart-wrenching story. He dedicated many of his songs to his recently deceased wife which brought tears to many people, because it is his emotions within songs that makes his talent shine above so many others. She would be very proud of you Danny!

9. Michael Lynche

Next we have Mr. Michael Lynche, the Ballad master. The big but lovable guy that could hit some pretty high notes. He was 4th on Season 9 and was the contestant the judges chose to save earlier in the season, GOOD CHOICE! It was truly a shocker to hear that voice and emotion come from him. You could tell that he really loved doing what he was doing because he was always beaming with joy and excitement, and frequently picked Ryan Seacreast up and swung him around in the air in a bear hug! He has a great voice, and he seems like a great person to be around if you want to be cheered up!

8. Aaron Kelly

Aaron Kelly was the 16 year old from Season 9 who got 5th place. Wow...the teenaged contestants always shock me. To be able to sing with such power, hit these big notes, and do it with such control is amazing. It makes me wonder how he (and the others) do it, because I can't even sing! Anyway, Aaron has raw talent that shines through, and his character on-stage makes him seem like a very humble guy. He was one of my favorites on the show last year, and I wish he would have made it even further. I believe he deserved atleast top 3.

7. Clay Aiken

Clay Aiken takes us way back to Season 2 of American Idol where he served as the runner-up to Ruben Studdard. Don't get me wrong, I liked Ruben, he was very outgoing, nice, and had good talent, but I believe that Clay should have been the Victor of the second season. His vocal abilities are truly amazing and his character lights up on stage. Since the show Clay has gone on to make a couple of CDs and has since progessed onto Broadway. He has a very strong, and sometimes scary, fanbase who have shown him very strong support. Keep it up Clay!

6. David Archuletta

Next we have David Archuletta who served as Runner-up on Season 7. Again, another teenager who was able to display great vocal abilities, with amazing capabilties and control. He has great natural talent that makes his performances seem effortless. He is shy and seemed a little scared of the big stage, but with practice he loosened up and became better and better each week. Archuletta was my favorite from this season, and I believe without a doubt that he was the best and should have won (no offense to Cook, I liked him too, I just dont believe he was as good). His absolute best performances were when he did Imagine. Great job. Since the show he has a cd, and has even guest-starred in Hannah Montanna.

5. Elliot Yamin

Good- ole Elliot. He was a great contestant with amazing abilities. he came in 3rd place in Season 5. He was beat by Katherine McPhee and Taylor Hicks (which I COMPLETELY disagree with). He could belt out the notes, showed great emotional connections, and displayed well-rounded character. He loved his family, especially his mom (recently passed) who he said was always there to support him and helped him along the way. You could tell they were close and truly loved one another. She was very proud of you Elliot, and she still is! Keep it up!

4. Bo Bice

Bo Bice was the Runner-Up to Carrie Underwood in Season 4 of American Idol. His vocals are truly out of this world. I can just remember the time that he decided to perform without any music on the big stage (extremely risky and brave) and it was one the best performances on the show ever. To be able to sing that good in front of millions without and music is amazing. He also expresses great character, as he seems really nice and friendly, and he wouldn't let anyone change who he is. He kept his long, 70's style hair the entire time. Live it Bo Bice and keep blasting out those great vocals!

3. Lee Dewyze

Lee Dewyze is the most recent American Idol as the Winner of Season 9. He was shy and a little timid to begin with, and for me, was a middle-pack runner for a while. However, once he calmed down the nerves, he became a huge sensation by exploding the stage with his great vocal abilities. He was neck and neck as my favorite with Crystal Bowersox, but when it came down to the end, I wanted Lee to win. He showed the most growth of any contestant, and his talent is outrageous. He has a great voice and a great personality and he truly deserved to win the title.

2. Chris Daughtry

Chris Daughtry was the favored-to-win contestant of Season 5, and the nation was in total shock when he got eliminated, putting him in 4th place. I was one of these shocked fans, and Chris daughtry was my favorite of the season. With the support of his fans, Chris was able to go back home and reassemble his old band and has become a huge hit and one of the most successful Idol Alum of any season. The band, now known as Daughtry, has relased a few cd's that were huge hits with several singles making it onto th charts. He was the cool, but nice rocker of the season singing for his family and he displayed his talents very well. Great work and dedication Chris!

1. Adam Lambert

Okay, anyone who has watched the show (or read my other hubpage, Top Ten Best Vocalists), knew that Adam Lambert would be on this list. His abilities are astounishing. I do not even know how it is possible for him to hit the notes that he does. He has truly amazing talent and hits and holds notes that the majority of female singers cannot even reach, no exaggerations. Now that Simon has left the show, Adam Lambert holds an achievement that no other contestant in Idol history has received. Adam was the only performer to ever get a standing ovation from Simon Cowell. That must tell you something, Adam's got skills. He also seems very down to earth and very appreciative of everthing he has gotten and achieved. Unfortunately, Adam Lambert somehow came in 2nd place, being beaten out by Kris Allen in Season 8. Everyone was shocked and surprised, but he has already had some hits on the radio and I can't wait to hear what will come next!

Well, that is my list of the best Male contestants on American Idol. Is there someone you believe should have been on the list? Leave me some comments and feedback and tell me what you think.

Also check out some of my other pages. I have Top Ten Best Vocalists, and then some movie reviews including: Inception, The Descent, The Descent 2, Killers, Leap Year, Buried, The Final Destination, The Rite, and more.
